The battle for the NJSIAA Central Group I girls soccer title came down to Metuchen High School and Robbinsville High School for the second time in three years. Despite taking an early lead, the Bulldogs could not repeat the success of 2007, losing to the Ravens, 6-1, Thursday. "When you get this far, it's anybody's game. I was hoping the weather would neutralize things," Metuchen coach Val Gazda said of the rainy day.

No. 2 Londonderry (20-2) upended the top-seeded and defending champion Red Raiders in four games, ending their quest for the program's first back-to-back titles.

When he has something to say, J'Quai Holiday talks very, very fast. The West Seattle man was chatting rapidly Tuesday night. Raised in the High Point neighborhood, Holiday said he made his share of trouble before he was hooked up with a mentor in 2002.

St. Mary's is the champion of the Lone Jack Tournament and may have secured the No. 1 seed in the Class District 14 Tournament. Jessica Holder had 32 kills and Shauna Bauml 26 as the Trojans Saturday split with Knob Noster 23-25, 25-22 and defeated Sweet Springs 25-11, 25-17 in pool play. St. Mary's, the sixth-ranked team in the Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association Class 2 state poll, then downed Barstow 25-11, 25-12 to reach the final and then topped St. Paul's Lutheran of Concordia 25
